Rocky Mountain College to host opening ceremony for the Dr. Charles Morledge Science Building

BILLINGS, August 17, 2018 – Rocky Mountain College will host a ribbon cutting ceremony for the Dr. Charles Morledge Science Building on Wednesday, August 22 at 4:00 p.m., with an open house following at 4:30 p.m. The ceremony will commemorate the science building opening for its first full academic year.

Rocky Mountain College President Bob Wilmouth, RMC Board Chairman Mike Walker, Student Body President Jacob Myers, and members of the Morledge family will be in attendance to celebrate the historic opening. Faculty and students will be available throughout the open house to answer questions about the new facilities and equipment.

The Dr. Charles Morledge Science Building is dedicated to the memory of an important benefactor and advocate of Rocky Mountain College. Dr. Morledge was a devoted ophthalmologist who worked tirelessly on behalf of his patients, often helping them pro bono. Dr. Morledge was especially fond of Rocky Mountain College, where he served as a devoted leader on the Board of Trustees. Along with his wife, Patti, and their children, he helped ensure the continued growth and improvement of the campus.

The facility was completed in spring 2018, thanks to the generous contributions of more than 85 donors and families. While some students attended class in the new building last spring, the majority have yet to experience everything the new facility has to offer. As one of the most advanced laboratory facilities in the region, the building provides RMC students and faculty with advanced research and teaching spaces in key science disciplines including biology, anatomy/physiology, geology, and chemistry. The third floor will also house the College’s Occupational Therapy Doctorate program. Due to the multidisciplinary focus of Rocky Mountain College’s curriculum, every student, regardless of major, will study in these new, state-of-the-art learning environments.

The event is free and open to the public. All members of the Billings and RMC community are encouraged to attend. Parking is available in the campus lot north of the Fortin Education Center, off of Rimrock Road.
